In my quest to find myself,
I gaze into the mirror, into my eyes,
believing there I truly reside.
But my eyes whisper back—
“Who is watching?”
Disappointed, I shift my search,
placing my mind upon my heart.
“Is this truly me?” I ask.
My heart beats in reply—
“When I race, who feels fear?
Who trembles with love, with longing?
Who is dreds the thought
That I might stop beating?
And when I stop—
who is the one that fades?”
I look for myself in pain when I weep
In pleasure when I laugh
But with time, pain healed
pleasures died
Like the footprints swallowed by the tide
Am i an idea of myself, crafted by me?
Or reflection of me engraved on onlookers eyes?
I thought I must stop walking on a way to find myself,
Yet i move, to keep the promise i made to someone I forgotten
I’ve travelled so far and lost among crowd of me
Crowd of contradictions and variations
Of one’s travelled the road i travelled.
Each searching yet each lost.
Except one.
A warrior emerges from the crowd
The one who shattered his doubt
Striding forward swinging his blade
He eliminates illusions, crowd fades trampling corpse he came for me at last
To execute forgotten promise i made
He raises his sword, shining with light,
declaring:
“Let yourself go.”
Sword flares, wisdom shinning bright
Pleasant Light torching me, him and every illusion at sight
Everything gone nothing remains
With a sigh, in the nothingness
I see myself when Its empty
And there, Beyond darkness and light
Beyond pleasure and plight
Its there i truly reside
I gaze into the mirror, into my eyes,
believing I reside there.
But my eyes whisper back—
“Who is watching?”
Disappointed, I shift my search,
placing my mind upon my heart.
